Cyrelco is a boutique cybersecurity consultancy, focusing on complex OT or hybrid environments. Cyrelco is vendor agnostic and is mostly active in critical infrastructure and providers of essential services.

Operational technology (OT), also known as Industrial Automation and Control Systems are used to protect and control critical infrastructures such as utilities, manufacturing, transportation, healthcare and smart city appliances.

While ICT security focuses on confidentiality, integrity and availability, OT security has to prioritise safety, reliability and availability of physical processes. For example, we wouldn’t shut down a system used in an ongoing operation, just as we would not reset some control system if that means that physical safety cannot be guaranteed.

This difference in focus has given rise to various (sector)specific processes and procedures. Some examples: Specific legislation and regulatory authorities impose stringent requirements for their relevant sectors and constituents. Security is not only digital, but physical as well, only with a holistic view can risks be mitigated correctly. Other public interest aspects, such as guarantees or regulations regarding food safety and the safety of drinking water.

It’s evident that in the area of OT security, we often talk about important sectors and large organisations whose services impact a large part of the population. (Security) mistakes can be costly, financially as well as societal and receive public scrutiny. This is a field where deep, specific knowledge and customer trust is paramount.

Cyrelco has proven experience in the OT security field. The company is mostly active in utilities, transport,healthcare and food sectors. Due to the nature of the industry, consulting engagements tend to be long term and open ended.

Another service is training and upskilling of staff in the field of security, ranging from governance and risk management to collaboration (bridging the IT-OT gap) in proactive and responsive security and continuity.

While Cyrelco is a young company (founded in 2021), founders Jeroen Roelandt and David De Man have extensive experience and a wide network in the OT security field.

Because of this, the company can provide the specific knowledge needed in OT security, notably a combination of safety, availability, security and specific regulatory requirements.

The founders are adamant in the conviction that continuous learning and development is vital for the organisation to thrive and to offer the best services to their customers. All colleagues receive immediate training upon recruitment and follow certification courses to bolster their skills and knowledge. This is a continuous effort throughout their career.

In 2021, Cyrelco was founded by David De Man and Jeroen Roelandt.

Cyrelco added a new employee in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Consequently, its current LinkedIn headcount is 6. More colleagues are expected soon.
